What do the numbers (ex I’m a 320 partner) mean? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hi all, I’ve been a barista for about a year now and I’m just being curious as to what y’all mean when you reference being a xyz partner. I’ve never heard this at my store, only the subreddits. Thank you for any and all explanations!

The first three numbers of your partner number give a general idea of when you were hired, basically. It’s shorthand for “I’ve been here for X years.”

I quit about 3 years ago but like to lurk in this sub still. My partner number was 2076519.
Between my hire date of Dec 2014 and whenever they hired you, 113000 people were hired by Starbucks.

This isn’t the case, because they added another digit to partner numbers about a year and a half ago. Also for some reason over the summer, the numbers skipped from 321xxxxx to 368xxxxx.
