I know in store we mark syrup for 30 days, I just found some syrups that I took with me when I left early this year (🤭) do you think they’re still good?? they are unopened and I can’t really imagine they would go bad but I’m scared to use them 😭

I found an expired brown sugar that was out of date by three months so I marked it out for inventory and proceeded to use the bottle over the next couple months till I ran out. Couldn’t tell a lick of difference between it and the syrups that were within the best by date.
Edit: I specify the brown sugar because I feel like of all our syrups that one is the least homogenous and would probably keep the most poor. Something like a vanilla/classic consistency that’s almost clear is probably a guaranteed lack of change in taste.

thank you!! I will be using it then 😁

Yeah, they're mostly sugar, and it takes a lot for sugar to go bad. It'd be very similar to having a big jar of honey that takes a long time to use up.

I’m working on a bottle of vanilla that expired over a year ago now, they are still good. If you have sauces like pumpkin I’d be a bit more weary, the thick sauces like that have milk in them

yes that’s what I was thinking too! I have a sugar cookie and a chestnut so I was hoping they would still be fine. I’m gonna try in my coffee tomorrow and see :)

These comments are rough… Y’all are really sticking up for a company who doesn’t give one single shit about you….. Your syrups should be good until the 30 day mark after you’ve opened them! There’s also an expiration date somewhere on the bottle for how long they’re good till IF you haven’t opened them. I think it lasts for like a year or something!
rolyat777 [OP]7 points6m ago
thank you!!!
icelessTrash20 points6m ago
There's a stamped best buy date near the neck of the bottle if you want to make sure they aren't too far gone.

The syrups should be fine, as they are just sugar, it took me a year to finish my bottles of torani. I'd definitely be more careful about sauces thought because of the milk.
krty982 points6m ago
I’ll vouch for the torani syrups as well, so much cheaper and so many more flavors, too!

I’ve found they are good for about a year and then start the crystallize after that, so I pitch them at that point. RIP the marshmallow I’d hold on to for forever
Sleight-Code6 points6m ago
Nah they have so much sugar they won't really go bad
misskatthebrat4 points6m ago
I've got an Irish cream from last year I just opened and it's still perfect.
aboutagirlz3 points6m ago
u should be good as long as it’s unopened !! Maybe don’t use the dairy ones
PetMySquid2 points6m ago
Imagine a restaurant opens a new hot sauce bottle. Their standard may be to date for it for a month also (if they even would). But you bet your ass I’m going to use my year old bottle of the same stuff for taco Tuesday. Ever take a banana bread home after it “expires” and it’s still good for another week? How we date things is honestly a joke, I think they use the absolute minimum day for stuff for worst case scenario type deals.
heartfires442 points6m ago
There should be an expiration date on the bottle! If it’s unopened it’s good until that date :)

So you stole?
rolyat777 [OP]17 points6m ago
they were holiday ones and my manager said it was fine lmao
Hour_Interview_9883-44 points6m ago
There is a use by date on the bottles, but they usually don’t last more than three months. I guess that’s what you for stealing? Lol
rolyat777 [OP]25 points6m ago
my manager let me take them because they were holiday syrups and I left in feb 😁 thanks tho!
Hour_Interview_9883-18 points6m ago
Sorry my bad, read the other comment and just assumed. But if they were holidays from before Feb, they’re definitely expired haha. There should be an expiration on the slim part of the bottle near the cap. It is hard to see on some though
Notlikeothercatmoms6 points6m ago
Aw boo hoo. Multi-billion dollar company won’t be able to handle one bottle of syrup leaving the store :((((
