Hi guys, had an absolute nightmare of a shift today. We have 2 bars with ancient mastrena 1's and one of them stopped working in the afternoon. On top of that we ran out of all the blue and green milk so we had to use red milk for everything. Since it was boxing day it was very busy and we only had two people on bar including me. I was busy making my drinks when a woman yelled at me because her white mocha tasted different. I asked her what the problem was and she said she couldn't taste any white mocha in her drink. I remember making her drink because I didn't have any other white mocha orders for a while. I also very much remember giving her a couple of extra pumps of white mocha in her drink. I asked her if she could stir her drink and try it again and she just snapped. She yelled at me and told me she shouldn't have to stir it because it's my job. She took her phone out and filmed me and threatened me for talking back to her. She threw all sorts of racial slurs at me because I am of Asian descent. She went on for a couple of minutes but I didn't say anything and added some more white mocha to her drink and gave it to her and she finally left.
My SM is on a vacation and when I texted her saying I need to talk to her about this she said that she is on a holiday and will talk to me when she gets back. I let her know that I am just very much mentally traumatised and not in a good place to work tomorrow. She told me that I should be texting the SSV who's in tomorrow and that if I do end up calling in, it would be concerning and and would be updated on the absence tracker. She seemed very annoyed and asked me to to allow her to spend time with her family and not bother her.
I don't even know what to do now. I feel very vulnerable and I'm scared. I didn't want to end up getting fired over an absence so I just gave in and said that I would work tomorrow. Should I be informing this to the higher ups or is it just not that deep?

If you feel it’s deep, it’s deep. Fux your SM for brushing you off like that when you feel attacked and targeted for your ethnicity. Escalate it and make sure anyone who witnessed it can give a written or recorded verbal statement. I’m so sorry you felt pressured to come on the next day to a workplace where you feel unsafe.

def contact your dm and see if they can make an incident report. this definitely isn't okay. regarding tomorrow, try to see if someone can cover your shift. if not, don't come in! explain to the shift who's working what happened and say you need a mental health day

i am so incredibly sorry this happened to you, that is absolutely disgusting. if you need to call off, please do so. that is incredibly traumatic and needing some time away is totally understandable imo. i would definitely reach out to your DM– something like this happened to a partner at my old store and the customer was banned from every starbucks

I second what everyone says. File an incident report. I usually remake their drinks though. It might be possible that they have covid too but you shouldn't assume.
