(using fake names obv lol) at my old store, a shift (Sally) got pregnant with a baristas (Bob) baby and was also having an affair with another barista (Joe). she didn’t know it was Bob’s baby until Joe requested a paternity test after it was born. Joe got promoted to a shift and told the SM that Sally manipulated him and pretended to like him and used him and favored Bob since she was having his baby. Sally was forced to transfer or quit and it turned into a whole discrimination thing because she tried to claim the store was being sexist because she was pregnant & wanted to go on maternity leave and yeah. it was a shit show.

A barista had sex w/ 2 other partners (both shifts). He then had sex w/ a customers wife. The husband found out and was pissed. One day as the barista rode home on his moped the husband spotted him and hit him w/ his car. Weeks later we found out that the husband was arrested b/c he walked in on his wife, the two shifts and the barista all his his bed. 2 of the 3 woman became pregnant.

Our old store manager, M, was a mountain of mess. But one of the messiest situations they put themselves in was when they, a very married person, decided to start sleeping with a barista, S, who was dating yet another barista at our store, L. L and M were best friends. They hung out all the time outside of work and partied together. S cheated on L with M and then was made homeless after they broke up only for M to take S into their house and live with them, still messin on the side, under the same roof as their spouse. Hopefully it was just a really open marriage but that whooooole situation give me the yikes

A shift was letting her friends in after close to hang out and giving them free drinks. She also arranged going on dates with the older men who came into the store in exchange for gifts. The SM okayed trading food perks with the neighboring stores; free drinks for free food from the other restaurants. Both were fired.

Had a partner at my old store doing drugs in the bathroom all the time “I found this needle in the bathroom!” He was the only one to ever find them. He found them a lot. Eventually he had to go into a rehabilitation and he got transferred to a different store. I hope he’s doing better. No hate for people with addiction I just wish it was easier to get help without the stigma. Also Starbucks needs sharps containers in the bathrooms for people with diabetes and shit. I’m tired of being careful changing trashes so I don’t get stabbed with needles.

Scandal is currently me and I didn’t mean it and nobody believes me. I dated a guy years ago who was a shift. I didn’t work for the company then. We happened to be friends for years who had the same last name. We happened to both have dark hair, pale skin, and glasses. Weird coincidence but he was a nice dude, we just couldn’t have worked.
I get a job here after getting married and having a kid, coworker says I look familiar and asked my maiden name.

A was a shift and was 25. She slept with B who was a barista and under 18. A got pregnant with B’s kid and then blew up their store life. A doesn’t work there anymore but is still friends with quite a few people that do. She didn’t really want to be a mom so doesn’t really have the kid much. I think the kid is around five now. Everyone besides me thought it was hilarious. I did not find it funny that a 25 year old woman was sleeping with a 16 year old.

Names changed but when I first started with the siren at the very end of August this year, a shift at the store Kelly decided I was her personal target and treated me like I had the intelligence of homer Simpson. Everything she would make me do I would excell at since I've had previous barista experience. It got to the point she took it upon herself to go to the other coffee shop I worked for pretended to be a store assistant manager to find out why I was fired from there. I wasn't fired, I had quit because I need a job that paid more during that time of my life. They told her that legally they couldn't disclose anything but that I had quit. She then tried to tell people that I was fired for stealing cash, she was put on a leave of action then eventually she quit.
It was honestly the best fuck around and find out moment I've experienced so far.

1. two baristas were sleeping together for a long time, batista A thought more of it than barista B so barista B would deny anything publicly and say that barista A was just obsessed w him while barista A would play it up like they were more than just sleeping together. Something happens they probably break it off or something but barista A slept with barista C to get back at B and so C could get back at another girl.

2. we were just hiring for a shift lead to work mornings and mids because the current one just decided she didn’t wanna open anymore (she opens 5 days a week), we had a barista who’s been passed up for promotions multiple times and 100% deserved it, she was already doing the work of shifts or pretty much leading the team anyways so why not get paid for it. anyways, current shift recommended a friend, but we pressured SM to promote current barista (wouldn’t have to go through any training except shift training, been there for years, always there, etc). obviously the one who already worked at our store got the promotion but now the shift who recommended her friend is mad that her friend didn’t get hired (she’s gotten 3 friends hired so far and they all sucked and 1 even got fired), so she’s basically taking it out on the new shift for, who knows why

She also tried to get two of our partners to take pregnancy tests bcuz they were acting “off” to her.

This happened years ago but before I worked for starbucks I was working at a B&N Cafe and my manager was fired for being racist to a black college student who worked there. The craziest thing was how she was racist, saying that "when this white kid comes in, we're going to make him do the 'n-word work'." She said it multiple times to this girl to the point of the girl crying and her justification was "I have black friends who think it's funny"???

So yeah she was let go that day and on my shift that night she was live blogging on the Google docs we had set up for scheduling, we could see her live typing, about how brave that girl was for standing up for herself and basically just saying bye. Wild situation, that woman was batshit insane. She should have been nowhere near a management position, customer service position, just nowhere near people in general.

Had a shift leader about two years ago who got drunk in the store, and was throwing up everywhere. Then she pulled her pants down and tried to pee in the mop bucket.

my coworker openly admitted to SAing his sister a while back! and i was stuck up front with him when he said it. i was very very terrified

we had a customer that would bring us all $50 gift cards each. they were for a variety of fast food places. we found out he did it because he was fucking one of our shifts and she told him that if he stopped the gift cards, their fling would also stop. said shift was also married…she ended up getting fired after being caught stealing money from the safe. last i heard, she was pregnant with her sneaky link’s baby, getting a divorce, and living in her car.

So my old manager physically injured me, told me not to report it, when I was finally convinced by my supervisor to do so my manager refused to adhere to my medical work restrictions. My injury persisted for so long that Starbucks fired me.

I was way too young and naïve to handle this correctly so now I’m left with a permanent injury, chronic pain and never got so much as a cent in compensation.

In the past an SSV was dating a barista and used to give her special treatment and they both ended up getting fired. Also my old SM was fired after failing to deal with the literal maggots that thrived under our sinks.

Feels tame compared to some of these stories but my (former partner) store got a new SM from out of state who moved down here with her husband. She was kind of a mess as an SM in general (as has been the case with every SM I ever had lol), but the messiest thing was definitely how, very soon after arriving, she was suddenly split from her husband AND pregnant from the SM of another store here in the area 😬 obviously I have no idea the state of her marriage before all this (and I can imagine the strain of an interstate move being a lot), nor do I know if the whole situation had anything to do with this or if it was just due to her general incompetence, but she was politely asked to leave the company a few months later before the baby was due. This was all four years ago, so I’m not sure how things turned out now, but it was quite the slow motion train wreck to watch at the time.

Man, when isn’t something stupid and dramatic going on at my store?? All I can say is that I wish the company would have a better way to enforce sexual harassment and bullying. A shift who went on to get her own store went on to heavily harass/ hit on a partner for a prolonged period when she was here. Another shift went on to bully those who he thought were ‘weak’, sleep with partners (also brag loudly and openly about it), and sexually harassed those that he couldn’t get with. He got away with it for years because he ‘made my former SM laugh’. He left before he could get fired any of it. My first store manager would hire recovering addicts who either were gone for prolonged periods of time doing drugs or straight up stopped coming to work. Another unhinged former partner threatened violence against the workers and customers regularly. The former SM fought to keep him in the store because she felt bad for him. So many more things. I fight hard for my partners to not have to go though all of this but without a stronger support system from the highers up, it can be pretty difficult.

I have a few.

Firstly: I got hired to replace a partner who was stealing, but not in the traditional sense. Turns out, he always worked DTO/DTW. Whenever someone would come in and pay cash, he would either void the whole check and deposit the cash into the tip jar, or proceed as normal, pull the change from the register, give the change back to the customer, then deposit the bills into the tip jar. Kinda like a Coffee Robin Hood.

Secondly: A Shift lead had sexual relations with at least 4 different baristas regularly. Sometimes during work hours. Walked in on him getting blown by a coworker by the mop sink. Didn’t get caught because my manager was a perv and applauded him for his “game.” He went on to open his own store and is now currently in the running for District Manager.

Thirdly: Not necessarily Starbucks related, but a shift lead had an affair with multiple men during her engagement to her new husband and got caught 1 month into the marriage because she thought he was going overseas for the military and he decided not to go. She currently is divorced with a kid of an unknown father.
