Clocking out 😌 nothing satisfies me more than walking away from the siren

i love getting into a good rhythm on bar. all hot drinks, no interruptions, making every drink accurately, just enough time to practice latte art occasionally and keeping up with orders. bonus points if i’m doing solo bar and sequencing with 2 bars! this has happened once in 4 months. maybe twice.

when i can tell my coworkers genuinely like me — honest to god i’ve never felt appreciated like this? i assume the worst in people, and live with constant paranoia everyone hates my guts, but sometimes compliments slip out so genuinely that i actually believe it.

making people smile, especially kids. i’m not chatty, i’m not an extrovert, i don’t like kids, but sometimes somehow i make kids happy and it makes ME so happy to see a kid grinning ear to ear because he gets to eat whipped cream with a spoon or something.

putting day dots on the pastries lol. or pastry closing when it’s not busy at all.

organizing the pastry cart and rotating the food. I love how stocked it looks
I get so annoyed when there’s multiple trays empty and they’re just pulling from the thawing rack but not switching them. 🙄

I love just hanging with my coworkers at work. They've helped me with my mental health and finding out I'm bipolar w/ adhd. Without them I wouldn't be where I am.

As an SM, I really enjoy seeing my team achieve / make progress on life goals outside of Starbucks. I try to make sure everyone at my store has a "goal" besides just clocking in and out for a paycheck.


Even my "best" partners, although I would love to have them work for me forever, know that this can't be where they plateau.

giving people surprises. they ask for extra whip? I size up the cup. Extra caramel and mocha drizzles? I make it looks nice in the cup. they order a cookie? I give them that cookie and a broken one I can’t sell.

getting really deep into sequencing with hot bar drinks! i love working drive thru bar so i can have like 4 or 5 drinks in various stages as i continuously finish out drinks and start a new one.

i also like grande teas and refreshers cause those are the easiest to toss the shaker in the air to flip. impresses both coworkers and customers cause im the only barista in the store who can do that.

I might be the only one, but I absolutely love cleaning and doing the dirty work that no one else likes to do. I love cleaning the drains, scrubbing the oven, cleaning the gaskets, etc. Basically anything involving deep cleaning lol.

My other baristas!!! Theyre so great!! And my sm. She does a lot for us!!😊😊

I love when it's like the golden crew. Everyone gets along, everyone pulls their weight. It makes it easier to deal with mean customers when you know your team has your back.

Also kinda low-key love when the truck brings us like NO food. My drive times are so low because it's just drinks. Everything is just bam, bam, bam. Done.

Probably the fact that I don’t have to take work home with me. I do, of course, but I don’t HAVE to. So if work comes home in my brain, it comes home in my bag too 🥰

the partners in my store. im so unbelievably lucky to have an incredible team of partners and we all love each other so so much!! i rarely go a full shift without getting a hug from a partner. i love my team and i feel so lucky

I love when I get in the flow & I'm sequencing hot bar well. Not as often right now as they've been putting more seasoned baristas on bar & I've been on POS during the busy days, but it feels good to do well, even with a second hot bar person. And, of course, the smile of content someone gets when they take a sip of a drink you made & say it's delicious. It feels good.

Dude, I love connecting with customers. I will ruin perfectly good window times over a good conversation. Another thing I love doing is taking customers their drinks / food items when they're in cafe. I have one regular who is just the sweetest and I just quietly made her drink and scurried over to her table because she was setting up to study.

i just love making drinks look pretty. like unpopular opinion but i love making the ‘tiktok drink’ iced white mocha bc it turns out so pretty and i love when customers comment on how good something looks ☺️☺️ and i make little hearts on people’s hot lattes just for fun

taking apart the sauce pumps and cleaning them! it scared me at first but then i got good at it. i also love using the 3 compartment sink, f*ck the hobart (jk jk)

i seriously love clean play omg. making the store all shiny and fresh and hearing the opening team the next day be so happy about how spotless everything is! our store remodeled this past year and i’ve dedicated myself to keeping it as clean as we can. i LOVE cleaning bars too and making the metal all shiny

Honestly just making drinks, I love making the drinks it's fun and calming to me but also really easy! Also prepping things like sauces, frappe roast, refreshers, teas etc and especially cleaning too! I am a huge clean freak and germaphobe so I just love to randomly clean, do the dishes and wipe down refrigerator doors, sinks etc. Warming the food can be okay but it can take a while sometimes especially for some warmed sandwiches/paninis.

I love the times I'm in the zone on DT bar, not talking to anyone, and mostly hot barring. It doesn't happen as often as it used to now that I'm a shift, but that's come with a few perks as well, including having a little more control of my day.

the coworkers I have that actually care to get to know us. There are shift leads I have that truly care about us and ask us about our lives, etc., and there are shift leads who are very rigid and could not care less about what we do with our lives (yet we hear all about theirs..??).

honestly the sweet regulars make the job kinda worth it (still want to quit tho lol) also i love cleaning the bathroom idk why but the bathroom spray is so foamy i love it

All of my favorite regulars- i adore getting to see them every day. Seeing them around the holiday season brightens my mood too, especially when they think of me for a small gift for the holidays. Knowing I’ve made an impact big enough for them to think of me outside of work makes my day

i love doing the inventory counts/pulls. i get left alone. no customers. just me and my freezing cold backroom. 😌
