Why are people so stuck up? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by IndustrySerious
On Christmas, this lady came with I’m assuming her boyfriend and their dog. I was on warming and I went over to hand her the food and she gave me the dirtiest look. And then she said she wanted a pup cup, so I grabbed a short cup and put whipped cream but not to the top bc her dog was small and she still gave me this dirty look. I was like sorry we didn’t have the smaller cups. Ppl love snatching their stuff from my hands and not saying thank you. Like why are ppl so weird?!

I think theres a hard disconnect between what Starbucks is vs other fast food.

If McDonalds can have my burger done in 30 seconds why does my coffee take 10 minutes sort of thing. And then they act like its our problem when they literally just dont understand how things work.

Ive tried having conversations where i explain everything that goes into making an order, and they literally dont give 2 shits. If its not all ready immediately at the same time some people will just shit on you no matter what else happena.

Starbucks also really puts their customers on this weird pedestal that basically encourages customers to treat us like shit. I know people can be assholes no matter where you work, but Starbucks customers are 90% extremely snobby, even if areas that aren’t well off. I’ve worked at both bougie locations and not so great high incident locations and the snob level doesn’t change.

Exactly.

This is a small piece but I wish Starbucks would make its menu more accessable so that

A) People know what we have and dont resort to the tiktok bs crazy customizations when they want to try something new.

B) We can start to break down the idea that these complicated and needy regulars are any different than the ones who simply pick off the menu board.

Because everything is so gatekept the complicated customers sometimes feel like they know more than others, and even us, and thats not cool. Its not the main reason for the entitlement, but I think itd help.

Yeah I miss the days when the Starbucks menu board was an actual menu and had the price for added shots, syrups, milk alternatives, etc.
Don’t get me wrong, there were some crazy customizations a few years ago but tiktok has definitely made customizations explode tenfold.

I love working at Build-A-Beverage. /sarcasm

I don’t know why but it feels like customers get so much worse during the holidays

if anything she should be grateful that she wasn’t talked to about her dog since we only allow service animals

i feel you so much on this. some of them are so soulless and snobby you can just see it in their eyes and their demeanor. No sense of compassion or empathy at all. Just hurry up and give me my sweet sweet sweet caffeine !!! 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️

Right!! Today I was solo’ing, like normally and I told the guy at the window to please hold on bc I was taking an order and he said, “ok you can’t answer my question?” And I said “I’m by myself as you can see, hold on please.! “ and then he proceeded to talk about his dog just unprovoked. And I’m like oh’ are you talking to me bc it looked like he was talking to someone on the phone and he said yes💀
