Just went to the only Starbucks open in the area due to unforeseen events, and a barista said pleasantly, “Sorry for the wait; have a great day!” To which the customer responded, “Lose the fake attitude, bitch.”
Just wondering what are some of y’all’s rudest experiences were?
rnaggie53104 points6m ago
Why would someone say that? The things we deal with are not normal.

Untreated mental illness.

Yesterday was bad. We were very busy, understaffed. I was on cafe/mobile and this guy after getting his drinks looked at me and said “ you obviously should have stayed home today, you’re clearly having a bad time”. Like fuck off dude I’m doing the best I can
Programmer_Tricky20 points6m ago
That’s when you pretend you didn’t hear them right and throw them back a big fake smile and say “you too!”
Muted_Obligation450143 points6m ago
I had someone drop the homophobic slur at the dt after I told them one moment 😩 confronted them at the window about it and started scrambling for excuses, randomly pulled out the “my cousin died” like tf
Comfortable-Plane94436 points6m ago
I would have told them we’re not serving them and good day
Jessicap140023 points6m ago
me too i would have refused service. Sashay away
Muted_Obligation450115 points6m ago
Honestly I would have but I was the bar partner so I had to go run back while my coworker handled the rest of the transaction after they fessed up. Next time we told them we wouldn’t be serving them and that if they have issues to check our policies themselves 😩
DeepFriedJoseph7 points6m ago
Saying any kind of slur is never okay. No matter what the excuse is, it just shows their true colors.
mochibebe_7 points6m ago
I have to admit I laughed out loud at this cause just wtF is that switch up?!

one lady who told me she was a “psychotherapist” came in and YELLED at me for grabbing a sandwich from the oven (so it didn’t burn) while she was ordering, then yelled at me some more when i repeated her order back to her to confirm what she wanted. i got a bit flustered, and forgot to grab her paper bag she wanted. she got SO UPSET, and asked to speak to my manager. also i asked for her name literally to put on the cup and she looked at me and was like. “i’m not giving you my name!! god. how can you even ask me that?? put ‘name.’ hah yeah. i am NOT giving you my name.” and i was so ,, on autopilot that i straight up put ‘name’. her fucking drink came out with ‘name’.
she was talking so loudly about how bad of an employee i was to my manager at the second till, DIRECTLY BESIDE ME. literally the customer i was currently serving was flinching and being like,, you’re right here. and i was like I KNOW :’)
this bitch made me cry (IN THE BACK), made my manager cry, made the shift cry too
and THEN she called the DM and said that i had “issues” and had been crying behind the register for a while, and that i needed professional help 🤪 and she would know! because she’s a psychotherapist!!! :) :) :)
skylikeslemonade9 points6m ago
i’ve had lots of other rude experiences but this one was certainly the most traumatic
GhostfaceJK7 points6m ago
damn she made the manager cry too?? jesus
skylikeslemonade4 points6m ago
she was gaslighting the hell out of us :’)
DVDragOnIn5 points6m ago
This was hard to read and I wasn’t even there. I’m sorry you had to go through that.
skylikeslemonade3 points6m ago
thank you <3

To call the DM… wow
Responsible_Snow710937 points6m ago
One time i had this lady order 4 shots of espresso over ice with classic syrup and cream. She waits for a teeny bit of time and then says "umm why is everybody getting their drinks before me?!" And i said "the people that *are* getting their drinks before u either ordered in store before u or mobile ordered before u. Also, the 2 espresso machines are tied up right now with a lot of in store and mobile orders needing a couple espresso shots each" and of course she cant argue with that so she says like a toddler "i dont care. It shouldnt take that long".....lmao ok u wana tell that to those customers that ordered before u? Im sure they would laugh in her face
sukkosaures21 points6m ago
Had someone literally threaten to fight me and said I better not see your face again and was beeping there horn and cussing at me. Why you might ask. They were in the drive thru had there friend who mind you was on the phone order for her I typed in exactly what she ordered repeated it multiple times had her confirm and then the girl claimed it was wrong when she got the drink and although I said I’d remake it (this was during peak pandemic) but I couldn’t take the old drink back. And yeah she then got super pissed and yeah. It was an interesting night.
korbinb_1916 points6m ago
someone threw a pike at me at the window cause it wasn’t “hot enough” it was in fact hot enough
Weary_Visit861810 points6m ago
hope you pressed charges on that mf
Jessicap14009 points6m ago
Some guy throwing all the random trash in his car out in our drive thru I told him theres a trash can around the corner he threatens me and tries to spit on me before I shut the window. SM did absolutely nothing says we cant ban him after that
emmerl5 points6m ago
I once had a woman leave the drive thru to come inside and complain that we always offered her a baked good or whatever to go with her coffee. I told her that was a corporate rule, but if she started ordering with the mobile app we wouldn’t do it anymore. She said she’d been trying to watch her weight and the offers were tempting and upsetting her. That’s fine, I didn’t want to be upsetting her.
Then she said she “didn’t want to be treated like a kid on the short bus.”
Told her to have a great day and to maybe call corporate.
Another time, this regular wouldn’t stop laying on her horn and screaming at other customers who were just trying to order. We refused to serve her that day. Learned she’d been banned from several other locations and we were her only option.
heartfires445 points6m ago
Grown man threw his frappuccino into the trash can because we (allegedly) made it wrong, except he missed the trash and the whole thing splattered on the side of the can, up the wall, and on the floor. Him and the family laughed about it for a bit then sat down in our lobby to finish enjoying their food.

A lady asked me to get my manager after talking to me like a dog so I called my SSV. She started pushing her card at me and telling me to just take the money but she had already asked for the manager and I was just tired of dealing with her berating me. When I told her the my manager was in the way, she asked me “are you fucking stupid? I told you to take my money.” I couldn’t even fire back with anything I was so stunned. I’ve had drinks thrown at me and people calling me homophobic slurs but for some reason her saying that really just stuck with me. I literally start tearing up just thinking about it. Anyway, my manager told her that we would not be serving her and that she was not allowed back on our property. I haven’t seen her since 🤷🏻
skylikeslemonade2 points6m ago
these ppl are the worst, i’m sorry you went through that 💗
Complete-Field46532 points6m ago
Eh, she’s a miserable person and misery loves company. I do my job and do it well. As long as I know that, I’ve won 💕
Regular-Reveal81334 points6m ago
this wasn’t the rudest cuz most of the rude things are like a bunch of small comments leading up to a medium mean one (i work in the south), but a lady told me i sounded depressing and asked if my coworker who asked for her to give us a minute could take her order instead … then ordered only a plain latte (stupid rat bitch u had one drink)
Regular-Reveal81333 points6m ago
which yea i sounded depressing bc i had woken up 30 minutes before and had just got on the floor but your order will still get taken even if my voice doesn’t spark joy
MarieMeow202 points6m ago
I haven't been working very long but some of the customer interactions can definitely be a hand full. Earlier this week I was working DT and we were understaffed, so we were holding people at the speaker by saying we were sorry and would be with them in just a minute. We had an issue with a drink that was at the window and had to fix it before we could take the next order. When the lady who was on hold got around to the window she started yelling at me about how we have horrible service and she was sitting there for 10 minutes without anyone saying anything to her. I'm just lucky to have an amazing shift lead who came over and took over because I had no clue how to react other than apologizing and trying to explain why she had to wait, and no she was only on hold for 3 minutes tops and would not listen to a word I had to say lmao.
MonoCandy2 points6m ago
We were running an understaffed play on a Saturday (we’re a college town Starbucks so it was game day and everyone swarmed us) and these two 40-something’s ordered 2 pikes. I was on register and had a long line behind them and queue of food to get. Of course, once I catch up I go to grab the 2 pikes and OF COURSE the urns empty.
I get the two peoples attention and let them know it’s gonna be a few minutes (I hey hadn’t been waiting for long whatsoever at this point mind you) and offer a recovery card for the wait. They roll their eyes and say “shocker, we have to wait even more now.” And I’m like “well I’m very sorry about the wait, however we are very busy because of the game at *school name*” and they give me a nasty glare.
Finally the pikes done brewing, and I get it to them immediately. They look me dead in the eyes and say “next time make sure you know how to do your job right before you give me fake customer service bullshit.” And huff out the store.
Yeah that wasn’t the best day ever lol
Disastrous_Pickle2 points6m ago
Someone threw a frap at me through the window. It was frappy hour, and she ordered a decaf frap during the chaos and it was taking a second. Our line was wrapped around the building.
When I went to hand her the drink (I was on DT), one of the bar partners asked about the “ask me” on a ticket and I took a half second to answer. When I opened the window to hand her her frap, she cussed me out while I apologized. As I turned to handle the next customer she launched her frap at me.
It fucking sucked and I never saw her again.
sorensobbin1 points6m ago
Right at the beginning of the pandemic, some lady who I had served earlier at DTR came back through close to closing time and started berating me, saying I took a sip out of a drink, because there was a “lipstick mark” on it (we were all wearing masks, nobody was wearing lipstick, and nobody needs her crusty ass drink)
She called me a lying piece of shit that should die because I had obviously taken a sip out of her drink… The drink had strawberry drizzle on top of the whip. Beginning of the pandemic was awful and it was already a tough day already as I had been there for 8 hours by that point so I just started crying and shut the window on her.
Gone_Overboard16321 points6m ago
Had opened (5am) and been in solo dt for about 5 hours, so to say my brain was fried would be an understatement. These two guys pull up, hand me a wad of cash, I punch it in, and they hand me some more after it'd been punched in. *computer dial up sound* I probably stared at the change for a good 20 seconds before just turning to my shift and saying "what is this".
The guys just stare at me for a second, start laughing, "wait wait, woah, are you serious? You actually don't know what that is?" I just blankly said "yeah well, I work at a Starbucks, not the math store." And they wouldn't stop laughing. "Holy shit! You're dumb as fuck! Did you go to school? I can't believe you didn't know what that was, you're seriously stupid as shit! Are you even from here?" I just was bewildered that they kept going on and on? I honestly just stared at them, barely processing what they were saying. I went home and immediately had a nap. It's didn't hurt my feelings, mostly because I was just absolutely shocked, but I couldn't believe they would just talk to a stranger like that.
rmd19971 points6m ago
I have too many of these to count honestly but a favorite - a customer called me a “f-cking c-nt” after staring at me in silence for 30 seconds. Turns out he was mad that I couldn’t read his mind to know that he needed a stir stick/stopper.
Responsible-Intern231 points6m ago
Hi, Im a newer bean at my store, just celebrated 5 months being at the company, and I’ve seen so much shit already(but ya know-ill take it over my last job, which was being a night watch person at a movie theater.) Anyways; Ive been bar support and front and food, and I’ve balanced it well, so sequenced my drinks after putting food in, running back and forth like a little chicken with their head cut off, and during peak, I’m on time and on top of all my items. Until, this asshole with a bad attitude walks in, with his entire family. Of course its a 7x7 order, 7 drinks and 7 food items, all drinks frappes with weird customizations(caramel crunch with white mocha and apple syrup and apple drizzle with the caramel), and all the food needs double warming. So, I’m sitting at the ovens, running to frappes, making this ungodly order, until i put the second frappe down, about to run to food-and this mf grabs my wrist, and tells me i made his wife upset? He wont let go, and im telling him “you cant touch me, let me go or ill call my supervisor over.” And he keeps saying I made his wife upset. I have NO CLUE, what I have done, my flight or fight response has kicked in, and i see her behind him, angrily drinking her no whip frappe. I call my supervisor over, and right before she reaches me, this man spits on me. Spites. On. Me….for not giving his wife whipped cream on her oatmilk frappe, and she even said no whip at the register. My supervisor watches this entire thing happen, and I’m let go of, and i run to the back to wash my face off from spit, while sobbing my eyes out in front of this man and my ssv. He got me right on the eyebrow, and i was thankfully wearing my mask. My ssv said he wont he coming back, they just refunded his order and forced him out, and threatened go call the police, but wtf. Dont spit on people because of whipped cream.
safaerabby1 points6m ago
It may not have been during open hours, but there was this one customer who came to the box few minutes after close. They proceeded to sit at the box for two minutes before backing up and trying again. Since we didn’t answer, they proceeded to cuss out in Spanish. They did this for about thirty seconds before driving off. 🫠🤡
antipinballmachines1 points6m ago
About a couple of weeks after I started, I couldn't hear what this lady was saying (I'm not exactly the best at hearing) and kept asking her to repeat herself. She then claimed I shouldn't be working there.
Also, in general, people who refuse to give their name. I've had some get all snarky with me, "You want my address too?". The last time it happened one of my supervisors intervened and said that it's part of the process, which they STILL failed to comply with.

Wow so unecessarrily rude for no reason, that customer should lose HER attitude! For me I have had many rude customers experiences but, I will just say some rude things I absolutely hate that I've had customers do is roll their eyes at me, throw their money at me like I'm a peasant server to where I have to pick it up, say "whatever" or get really mean when we're out of certain items etc, completely ignoring me, cutting me off and being rude for no reason whether I'm saying hi or telling them their drink etc.
Usually it's sometimes the small rudest things that get to me, the big rude experiences like a lady telling me to find another job as I was having a hard day, not the most smiley and happy person at the time and a coworker called out so I was alone by myself for 12 hours, drowning in orders almost breaking down.
