how do you feel about DT times?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by quickthinxallthots
i care about them a bit if only bc i want our store to look good. i know there's no incentive for baristas, but is it better off if i just stop caring at all? what do your times look like? ours are consistently in the yellow because my store doesn't really care. we get high customer connection scores though.

i don’t care about them. at all. i mean as long as the car isn’t sitting there waiting for an unreasonable amount of time. my store has been on our ass about it lately and i hate it. most of our customers @ my store order 3-4 heavily modified drinks that are difficult to sequence and getting under 50s window times means 2 things:
1. shit is being made wrong because you’re making us work 5x faster and rushing us raises the chances of errors
2. i don’t know how i’m supposed to connect in 10 seconds outside of a “hi, how are you, have a great day” while slinging drinks out of the window. with these hour cuts there’s no room for a DTO, so we often solo dt even during peak. so i can’t even talk with the customer while payment processes since i have to take orders too. which means…low CC scores 🫠
we were doing great for a while. 2 weeks straight and our highest time was 45 seconds otw. and then shitbucks decided to cut labor and now we’re back to floating around 55-59 seconds otw since we never have more than 3 or 4 people working & at least one person calls out every single day

It depends who’s working. I’m one of the fastest drive bar people (35-40 seconds on average) at my store. More recently I have not been on drive bar they want others to get faster and I need a break. So recently drive times have been 63-75 seconds. I care about drive times bc it gives me something to work towards. I’m trying to beat my personal record of 32 seconds

this is how i feel too, but because no one else cares i try not to take high times personally.

You gotta have a good window partner too

I’m not paid enough to care about anything beyond my tasks and being helpful to my coworkers. Don’t care what the times are because that’s a bullshit metric :)

i think they’re worth trying for only because fast dt times directly impact the amount of labor your store is allotted, and because the faster you are, the faster the volume slows down for the day (the same amount of people will come, but if every car is 1 min as opposed to 40s it’ll take a lot longer to get them all through). personally though i think it’s insane to have those expectations with the staffing starbucks gives

I care about them when it’s convenient. When we have our best team in the mornings we can get to 35 seconds. Other days be are at 57. It’s nice to hear people say “wow that was fast!” when you hand them their order and it’s a fun little competition between the stores in our city. But when we’re slower I don’t freak out

personally i can care less, and i’m always being put on bar 😭😭 i don’t come here to torture myself by trying to make drinks under a certain amount of time, just isn’t worth it especially if we are understaffed/i’m not being given any sort of help on bar

If my times are good that’s great but I don’t sweat about it
