i got a payment today (pending) for around that much but i still work here? it certainly doesn't reflect the hours i worked this week and there wasn't a pay statement posted for this week on partner central.

It's good to know it wasn't just me. I feel like someone at Starbucks Corp is gonna get fired over this or something.

Or maybe it's pain and suffering for working at the bux /s

Couple ideas here. Mainly that your official end date was put in as later than it actually was. (Ex: you gave 2 weeks notice in July but boss put it in end of August). Or they didn't process you as gone at all. If that's the case it's your normal final payout from unused sick time.

Or possibly some state law changed where you are and they retro payed you to stay legal.

Or it could have been a mistake. I'd recommend you not spend it for a while just in case, just leave it chilling in the bank as a buffer.

They turned off my work app and my numbers a week after I quit. But there could be something to it. Although I only had a few hours of sick and vacation time because I used it up right before quitting.

they don’t pay out sick time. they only pay out vacation time.

> they retro *paid* you to

FTFY.

Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*

* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*

Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
