We should get time and a half for things like new years eve and Christmas eve as those days are more busy than the actual holiday. People do most of their partying on new year eve then rest with a hangover on new years day.

I mean hell, expand it even further: when business exceeds typical volume by x %, time and a half applies.
I used to work next to a stadium and every single game day was insane. We were given maybe one extra person to do $4k extra in sales.

Lol my store does an average of 32 half hours during peak times every day. We have drive thru, cafe, mobile, uber, and door dash. Also with major labor hour cuts. 🙃

Well i hope ur day goes smoothly! At least u will get that extra money on ur paycheck along with credit card tips 🙂 especially since i, as well as others, feel like its more busier on the day before actual holidays cuz people are out and about driving somewhere specific to celebrate. Especially for new years cuz people will more likely be sleeping in tomorrow and not going out so u will probably have more business today vs tomorrow. So that extra money for taking the shift plus credit card tips on top of cash and digital tips will hopefully make it more worth it!
