They really wanted that acronym lol
MorbidSloth 4 points 13h ago
Am I missing something or does it seem like they just sat down and googled acronyms while looking at the keyboard, found some that flow and aren't taken, and saw what they could plug in there. Picked the best one of those, and we got AEGIS
benkenobi5 2 points 6h ago
I dig the sonic fist in the logo
Schincredible 29 points 22h ago
Together we bargain, alone we beg.
ballpark89 22 points 22h ago
The Nintendo Workers Union logo better be a fist wearing a PowerGlove.
GHamPlayz 9 points 22h ago
Nahhhh it’s gotta be Master Hand
ArScrap 1 points 3h ago
Imagine Nintendo suing the union for copyright infringement
Hungry-Collar4580 7 points 17h ago
Aegis sounds vaguely familiar.

Everyone should unionize. Employees win when unions form.

Your life is worth more than the cents they pay. Together we all can demand more.

Think about it. If people who on average make slightly higher livings than a lot such as actors, writers, and developers are demanding more, so should you.

> Employees win when unions form.

That depends on union rules. If people have to be given positions based on seniority and not merit, then new employees who may be better at doing a job lose out.
shutter3218 4 points 11h ago
Im a union member and I like my union. Not all Unions are created equally. If you have good leadership it’s great. If you have bad leadership you get what happened with hostess (basically drove the company out of business.)
sketchy_van 1 points 10h ago
Hell that’s still a win. “Look had y’all given us decent benefits and pay we wouldn’t have bothered to unionize and we wouldn’t be closing our doors, but now no one gets a job”
Drunkenly_Responding 1 points 4h ago
Sounds like everyone lost in the end though? No job, no pay, no company, no product.

Also those now jobless employees add to the labor pool which I'm guessing reduces bargaining power for current and new hires of the industry.
theoneandonlypatriot -2 points 11h ago
Disagreed man. I don’t want to have to do everything a union tells me to do just because they own my industry. No thanks, honestly.
thepwnydanza 6 points 11h ago
So you’d rather be exploited and paid less than you’re worth because you’ve been fed propaganda about unions? The rich that own your industry do not care about you. At all. They already tell you what to do and you do it.

At least a union would ensure you get paid fairly to do those things and can retire before the young age of died on the job.
theoneandonlypatriot -5 points 11h ago
I think it’s you who are neck deep in union koolaid my friend. I know a lot of people in a separate industry that just became unemployed because a large group employing other people in their industry decided to go on strike and while it is great for those in the union it completely fucks over the rest of the industry that is not in the union.

Listen, I’m not saying all unions are bad, but I don’t think they’re necessary until they’re necessary. Right now the pay is just fine in our industry for our work, and as long as you aren’t facing repeated crunch at your studio I don’t think developers are in dire need of even higher salaries.
thepwnydanza 3 points 11h ago
If you were in the Union, then it wouldn’t fuck you over. That’s the point. Being in the union gives them POWER to force positive change. And even outside of the union, you stand to benefit from their strike because you become more valuable when their value goes up.

Unions are always necessary to protect the worker. Corporations do not have your best interest in mind and they are far more powerful than the individual. Being part of a union gives you a voice. There’s a reason wages have stagnated everywhere but with executives. It’s because there aren’t unions to prevent it.

Unionize.
benkenobi5 2 points 6h ago
That’s cool. If there’s any industry that needs better protections for workers, it seems like it’s the gaming industry. I’ve heard so many terrible things about working for those companies
pbmcc88 2 points 18h ago
The unions make us strong. This is a hugely positive development.
AutoThotsRollout 2 points 13h ago
Who is us?

Got to go fast 💨 #union

Sega still exists?
LadyPo 15 points 19h ago
They just released Bayonetta games…
sargonas 8 points 19h ago
Uhhh Sonic Frontiers was a top 15 selling game of 2022?
LadyPo 2 points 17h ago
Yup, the Sonic Team game company is owned by Sega. Bayonetta Origins I think is the most recent main Sega title — though the Murder of Sonic technically beats it through the Sonic Team as an April fools release lol
sargonas 2 points 16h ago
Sorry! I miss read your post. I read it is “they just *release* Bayonetta games” as in, that’s the only thing of value they do. My bad!
Round_Researcher6659 -18 points 19h ago
How about forming some decent video games instead
HisShadow_X -10 points 18h ago
So this is why SEGA is looking to sell to Microsoft. This make sense or they can get rid of of the California located with the warn act
Zealousideal_Meat297 1 points 13h ago

Unions can be an amazing tool to improve working conditions. Let’s just hope this one can maintain its integrity towards helping out employees and not turn them into a cash farm.
